Heather Sorenson, conducting
This work was designed not only to live well in the concert hall, but also to transition into the church sanctuary. The composer's trademark cinematic moments, soaring choral melodies and impressionistic chord structures will highlight the vulnerable humanity that has become synonymous with her writings. This work is a combination of traditional Latin and English, with references to Scripture and hymn texts. It is accompanied by full orchestra or chamber orchestra and includes soprano and tenor soloists. The work was commissioned in honor of those lost during COVID, Requiem was written to bring hope and healing to all who have experienced loss. (from Heather Sorenson's website)
